Otis Moss Health Center
Established 14 years ago in conjunction with Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, University Hospitals Otis Moss Jr. Health Center serves Cleveland's Fairfax neighborhood, an area previously long abandoned by traditional primary care providers. Through this unique facility, some 5,000 patients have access to high quality primary care from caring physicians specializing in internal medicine, pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology. "The center addresses the medical needs of the Fairfax community and beyond by providing comprehensive primary care in a spiritually supportive environment," Dr. Carla Harwell explains. Blood drives, annual prostate cancer screenings, children's summer camps and book clubs are just a few community outreach programs that the center provides to address identified community needs.
An important part of the center is the Olivet Health and Education Institute (HEI), staffed by ministers, counselors and educators from Olivet Baptist Church. "HEI is an integral part of the overall healing, treatment, coping and preventive health care process here," Dr. Harwell explains. The UH Otis Moss Jr. Health Center supports an important part of our mission – to provide all members of the community with access to excellence in health care.
Cleveland Clinic is a nonprofit, multispecialty academic medical center based in the heart of Northeast Ohio that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. Since opening its doors on Euclid Avenue in 1921, Cleveland Clinic has been an integral part of the Fairfax community.

Cleveland Clinic's main campus in Fairfax spans from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard west to East 83rd Street, and includes our Langston Hughes Community Health & Education Center on East 79th Street. At Langston Hughes, residents and neighbors have access to health assessments, clinical screenings, neighborhood education classes, health coaching, community resource and referral navigation services, and more. Services are provided by Cleveland Clinic staff physicians, residents, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical students and other health professionals.
